Design

When the watch was released in 1962 critics described it as an elegant yet futuristic watch because it strayed away from what was a normal Patek. The ref.3448 is known by collectors as the “Padellone” and the “Disco Volante”, or “Flying Saucer” in English.

Perpetual Movement

A beautifully striking feature about this watch is its integrated crown to the case. The movement inside the watch is also very significant as it was Patek’s first automatic movement capable of carrying a perpetual calendar. The movement in question is the 27-460 Q (Q is the designation given to Perpetual Calendars).
